financial reporting, financial support and professional services.
The Purchasing Department, which is a part of the University’s Finance
Division, supports the academic, research and administrative community at the
University providing sound procurement advice and timely information, and
delivering a range of services including category management, supplier
management, tendering, procurement process design & training.
**What We Offer**
As an employer, we genuinely care about our employees’ wellbeing and this is
reflected in the range of benefits that we offer including:

* 38 days annual leave
* A comprehensive range of childcare services
* Family leave schemes
* Cycle loan scheme
* Discounted bus travel and Season Ticket travel loans
* Membership to a variety of social and sports clubs
* A welcoming and diverse community
**About the Role**
The Senior Purchasing Analyst is responsible for the provision of timely data,
analysis and insights to support the work of the University Purchasing
Department. This includes working collaboratively with colleagues across the
University to develop the systems and tools used to capture, analyse and
visualise spend and contract data, and also leading complex analysis to
provide insights into the University’s buying behaviour and the delivery of

Purchasing Department, but also to provide insights to customers in devolved
departments and drive behaviour change (including compliance with purchasing
guidelines and strategies).
The role will require you to be a source of knowledge and expertise for
colleagues both within the Purchasing Department and wider purchasing
community, providing advice and making recommendations in respect of working
with and interpreting spend and contract data. You will understand the
analytical capabilities of the University’s chosen business intelligence

a way that everyone can understand. You will advocate for data quality and
contribute to University-wide initiatives to improve data governance.
You will also work with colleagues in the University’s Environmental
Sustainability Team to improve the quality of the University’s scope 3 carbon
reporting, and to develop insights from that data to enable the University to
reduce its scope 3 footprint.
We welcome applications from all sections of the community.
You will be based in Hythe Bridge Street but you may be able to agree a
pattern of regular remote working with your line manager.
**About You**
You will have experience of compiling, visualising and quality assuring data
with the purpose of creating information that increases knowledge and
facilitates decision-making. You will have strong knowledge of Microsoft
Office tools (Excel, Word, Teams), with advanced Excel skills.
You will have experience of prioritising and delivering work packages in a
timely manner, in particular those that involve achieving collaborative
outputs with colleagues who have competing demands on their time.
You will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with
the ability to explain complex analytical concepts and insights to
professional procurement staff, and be passionate about working with data and
motivated to deliver improved insights from data and data quality, whilst
being able to work independently, efficiently and with exceptional attention
to detail.
**Application Process**
You will be required to upload a supporting statement, CV and the details of
two referees as part of your online application.
The closing date for applications is 12 noon on Wednesday 31 January 2024.
