<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <p></p><div>We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate on a project mapping seagrass in the Western Indian Ocean led by Dr Gwilym Rowlands. Seagrass habitats are extremely valuable yet often endangered ecosystems; accurate maps are urgently required to support improved management. You will work as part of a large and dispersed international team of researchers, with the opportunity to regularly interact with collaborating researchers in Oxford and across the study region. This position provides an excellent opportunity for an ambitious researcher interested in working at the interface of marine research, conservation, and policy.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>The successful applicant will manage their own research and administrative activities. You will take a leading role in delivering geospatial and remote sensing analysis, technical writing, literature synthesis, collaborative meetings, field planning and logistics. You will collaborate in the preparation and delivery of scientific reports journal articles and occasionally present papers and posters.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>You will hold, or be close to completion, a relevant PhD/DPhil, together with relevant experience. You will demonstrate relevant expertise for the classification of satellite imagery into GIS-ready habitat maps, familiarity with the use of cloud computing platforms, like the Google Earth Engine, for remote sensing and geospatial analysis, and familiarity with the challenges and technical solutions for optical remote sensing and mapping in marine and coastal environments.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>The post is offered full-time for a period of up to 36 months. Applications to work 80% full-time may be considered.
