RSL Technology Manager

The Radcliffe Science Library is the main science library for the University
of Oxford open to all members of the University and other members of the
Bodleian. The newly refurbished RSL now provides significantly enhanced
facilities including enhanced and more comfortable study spaces, IT
facilities, group study rooms, training facilities and a large lending and
reference collection.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, skilled, and service-oriented person to
lead and deliver the RSL’s 3D printing services and to support our staff and
library users in their use of IT and AV.
You will manage and deliver the RSL’s 3D printing and scanning service and
provide training and demonstrations on its use. You will ensure the resolution
of IT and AV problems for RSL readers and staff, and will co-ordinate the
installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of RSL IT and AV equipment and
software. You will also, in partnership with RSL and other colleagues assess,
propose and implement ways to enhance technology support and services at the
RSL.
You will have relevant IT qualifications (or equivalent experience) and
experience of working in an IT support environment. Good interpersonal skills
and communication skills are essential as is experience of successful joint
working with wide range of colleagues, users, and external stakeholders. You
will have a knowledge of Windows based operating systems with an ability to
diagnose and repair problems with common software packages such as Microsoft
Office, as well as a basic understanding of IT hardware and AV equipment and
the ability to support AV equipment and systems used for projection, lecture
capture and streaming.
Some experience with 3D printers and scanners is desirable, as is experience
of working in an academic IT support environment or similar.
This is a permanent, part-time post. Working hours are 18.75 hours per week
(0.5 FTE) ideally to include to working at least one full day per week, but
some variation on that can be considered.
