**About the role**
The Commercial team at the Ashmolean operate thriving retail, catering,
publishing and venue hire businesses alongside a growing licensing portfolio,
picture library and photography studio. The profit we generate is invested
back into the museum to enhance our visitor experience, look after our
collections and further the Museum's research.
The Head of Events & Catering is a critical member of the Commercial team,
tasked with optimising income and customer experience in our basement café,
rooftop restaurant and for our venue hire businesses. Reporting directly into
the Commercial Director, you’ll lead your team to operate our renowned venue
hire offer, supporting clients with corporate or social events and weddings in
a range of unique spaces. You’ll also manage our retail catering proposition,
working in partnership with our third-party catering supplier.
With your team, you will ensure that our venue hire offer and museum events
are delivered to the highest standard. You will manage relationships and work
in partnership with third-party suppliers to grow our income and deliver the
best customer service experience across retail catering, venue hire, and
events.
This is a fixed term one-year post, full-time, working 37.5 hours per week.
There is a requirement to work flexibly over a 7-day weekly rota including
some evenings and weekends.
**About You**
You will have experience of managing events in a heritage or commercial
environment with experience of planning and delivering events to budget and
schedule.
Line management experience with the ability to lead, support and develop a
team is essential.
You will have experience of working in successful partnerships with third-
party suppliers to optimize income and customer experience.
Experience of Profit & Loss management and accountability is key to managing
budgets and sales.
