<div>We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Assistant to join the Cancer Genetics and Evolution Research Group led by Prof Ian Tomlinson. The post holder will play an important role in carrying out research of just right phenomena in tumorigenesis.</div><br>
<div>The successful candidate for this role will be responsible for investigating the 'just right' model, also known as the 'goldilocks' of tumorigenesis. In this context, the post holder will explore the concept that cancer growth is influenced by the balance between dysregulation of traits such as signalling and genomic instability and the constraints imposed by normal tissue. The ideal scenario involves achieving a specific level of dysregulation to enhance tumor growth without excessively triggering control or homeostatic mechanisms.</div><br>
<div>You will be employed by the University of Oxford and be required to work closely with collaborators outside Oxford. You will be based in the laboratory of cholangiocarcinoma expert Dr Rachel Guest on a long-term secondment. The Guest group is based at the University of Edinburgh Institute of Genetics and Cancer on the Western General Hospital Campus. Regular, funded visits to the Oxford laboratory will ensure effective co-ordination with group members working on related projects.</div><br>
<div>This role is offered on a full-time basis and is fixed term until 30 June 2025 in the first instance.</div><br>

<div><strong>About you</strong></div><br>

<div>The candidate with a proven track record in mouse models of cancer, molecular genetics, and experimental analysis of cholangiocarcinoma. The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in molecular methods for constructing new mouse cancer models, a solid understanding of metabolomics and cancer metabolism, and a published first-author manuscript in scientific journals. Additionally, the candidate must hold at least an MSc degree, demonstrate proficiency in managing mouse colonies, and exhibit exceptional experimental laboratory skills.</div><br>
