Digital Learning Manager

Applications are invited for a Digital Learning Manager to join the Nuffield
Department of Primary Care Health Sciences (NDPCHS). We aim to deliver an
exemplary learning experience for students on our postgraduate programmes, and
are looking for an experienced learning technologist to lead the further
development of our digital learning capacity, maximizing the use of technology
in delivering a highly effective learning experience. NDPCHS offers a series
of taught Master’s and DPhil programmes, including a number co-delivered with
partner departments.





The Digital Learning Manager will partner with faculty to evaluate and add
value to online learning environments, producing high-quality online learning
materials or to design integrated materials across blended courses. They will,
as appropriate, work with programme teams to (re)design the overall look,
feel, navigation and student learning experience of Canvas. The role will act
as a central point of contact in helping teaching staff identify which devices
and software best serve teaching needs and practices and would suit
individuals with great communication skills, who are passionate about teaching
and learning and enjoy working collaboratively.





Responsibilities will include:



- Develop online and blended course materials from concept to production, incorporating faculty and student feedback to implement ongoing improvements



- Develop trusted working relationships within the department to encourage the adoption and extension of learning technologies in educationally beneficial ways



- Work collaboratively with the Head of Programmes and programme teams to ensure the development of VLEs and an excellent student learning experience across all programmes



- Develop mechanisms for sharing and showcasing excellent digital teaching practices across the department, to promote innovation



- Ensure that you are up to date with the latest developments in the field of digital education (innovations, research and evaluation, accessibility and inclusivity, pedagogy) to inform best practice within the department



- Manage resources and prioritize efforts to make the best use of resources in relation to operational planning and budgeting



- Review the department’s resourcing needs and in time, build a team to serve the ongoing development and maintenance of postgraduate programmes





You will have:



1. A qualification or equivalent professional experience in learning design/e-learning or other relevant accreditation that would provide a solid foundation to act as a thought leader within the department on digital learning.



2. Evidence of developing materials for both face-to-face and in online teaching.



3. Demonstrable experience of supporting the use of digital learning platforms equivalent to Zoom, Teams, Canvas, Panopto, and other learning technologies to enhance teaching and learning and the student experience, as well as a good understanding of accessibility, copyright and usability issues in this context.



4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; including the ability to communicate effectively with faculty and programme coordinators, both orally and in writing.



5. Effective interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact effectively with people with a variety of levels of technical expertise.



6. Awareness of the issues influencing learning and teaching within Higher Education.



7. Demonstrable planning and prioritization and team working skills combined with the ability to work independently, on one’s own initiative.



You will be based in the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences,
Radcliffe Primary Care Building, Woodstock Road, Oxford, OX2 6GG as your
normal place of work but you may be able to agree a pattern of regular remote
working with your line manager.
