Postdoctoral Research Assistants in Theoretical Active Matter / Biophysics
Applications for this vacancy closed on 31 January 2024 at 12:00PM
Applications are invited for two Postdoctoral Research Assistant positions in
Active Matter / Theoretical Biophysics.
The posts are available for a fixed-term duration of 2 years with a possible
extension subject to funding.
The PDRAs will pursue fundamental theoretical/computational research centred
around the ways in which active matter physics can be used to help further our
understanding of mechanobiology. The positions are funded by an ERC Advanced
Grant (underwritten by UKRI as a Frontier Grant) which includes generous
provision for travel and inviting visitors.
The PDRAs will be expected to carry out cutting-edge research using analytical
and computational approaches. They will contribute to a highly collaborative
and dynamic research environment, and will initiate inter-disciplinary
research discussions with experimentalists and biologists.
Applicants should hold a PhD, or be near completion of a PhD in theoretical
physics or a related field. Candidates are expected to demonstrate a capacity
for independent research work and an ability to collaborate across
disciplines.
The post-holder will have the opportunity to teach.
Please direct enquiries about the role to Professor Julia Yeomans FRS.
Julia.Yeomans@physics.ox.ac.uk
Only applications received before midday 31 January 2024 can be considered.
You will be required to upload a statement of research interests, CV and
details of two referees as part of your online application. Candidates should
ensure that referees submit all references to rpcreferences@physics.ox.ac.uk
by the closing date.
