**About the role**
We have an exciting new opportunity to join the Research Strategy and Funding
team in the Radcliffe Department of Medicine (RDM), as a Strategic Research
Coordinator. This is a new post, available immediately: the soonest mutually
possible start date will be agreed with the successful applicant.
RDM is a large, multi-disciplinary, multi-site department whose core mission
is to improve health by understanding shared mechanisms of human disease. It
has a large and broad portfolio of funded research projects spanning diverse
research areas. As the Strategic Research Coordinator you will play a pivotal
part in helping RDM to meet the ambitious objectives set out in its five-year
strategic plan, which focuses on three strategic priorities: 1) Development of
cross-disciplinary research themes; 2) Development of platform technologies
and capabilities to support cross-disciplinary, discovery and translational
research; and 3) Addressing challenges of recruitment, retention and career
development for all staff.
Working closely with the Head of Strategic Research Development, you will help
to implement and coordinate the Department’s new Cross-Cutting Research Themes
and assist in identifying and supporting the development of major bids for
strategic funding opportunities within and beyond the University. You will
also take part in implementing important new strategic initiatives agreed by
the Department’s Senior Leadership Team to support academic career progression
within the Department.
**About you**
You will hold a PhD/DPhil, or equivalent qualification, in a scientific
discipline; or equivalent professional experience in a scientific role. You
will possess an understanding of the research funding landscape in the UK, as
well as the funding needs and challenges faced by researchers. Self-motivated,
resourceful and pro-active, you will have excellent oral and written
communication skills, and strong interpersonal and networking skills. You will
be able to think strategically, combined with a willingness to undertake day-
