Research Assistant - Sequencing

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated Research Assistant to join our
team in The Ludwig Clinical Research Programme at the Nuffield Department of
Medicine.
You will work for a team to develop/modify sequencing related technologies,
which will be applied to experimental and clinical samples as well as
performing techniques which probe chromatin function with a goal to reveal
chromatin alterations in cancer.
You will be responsible for managing your own research and administrative
activities, within guidelines provided by senior colleagues, while
participating in the Ludwig Cancer Research funded clinical research programme
line managed by Prof. Skirmantas Kriaucionis. You will be tasked with
operating laboratory equipment used for all aspects of cell/molecular
biology/biochemistry as well as, determining the most appropriate
methodologies to test hypotheses and identify suitable alternatives if
technical problems arise.
It is essential that you hold a degree in in biochemistry, molecular biology,
chemistry or related subject together with demonstrable experience with
molecular biology or biochemistry techniques. You will have sufficient
knowledge in biochemical assay optimisation, quality control or automation and
will have excellent communication skills, including the ability to present
data in written and verbal forms. Among your skills, you will be highly
organised with excellent attention to detail, and the ability to handle
precious clinical samples, manage a varied workload under pressure and meet
deadlines.
