**About you**
We are seeking a Research Assistant to assist on a project exploring
uncertainties in habitat greenhouse gas emission estimates and valuation, and
implications for environmental policy and management.
**About the role**
This desk-based, fixed-term position will involve literature review and
environmental modelling to compile up-to-date estimates of areas and
greenhouse emissions/removals for some key UK habitats, particularly
peatlands. Findings and resulting recommendations will be reported to
stakeholders in Department of Agriculture Environment and Rural Affairs
Northern Ireland, and the Wildlife Trusts, and published in academic journals
and wider reports.
The role is part of the Agile Initiative project ‘How can we manage
uncertainties in habitat greenhouse gas emissions?’. We are seeking a
candidate with a background in ecology or environmental science, with some
familiarity with UK environmental policy and/or practice, who is equipped to
carry out desk-based modelling work, able to work independently and as part of
a team, and willing to contribute to wider Agile Initiative activities.
**How to apply**
The University of Oxford is committed to equality and valuing diversity. All
applicants will be judged on merit, according to the selection criteria.
This post is full time (although part time arrangements may also be
considered) and available immediately.
The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on 22nd March 2024, interviews
are likely to be scheduled for late March / early April. Applications should
include a CV and supporting statement addressing the selection criteria.
