<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <p></p><div>Applications are invited for a CNC machinist / Mechanical Workshop Technician vacancy within the University of Oxford&#8217;s Department of Physics.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>The post is full time and permanent.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>The successful candidate will join the busy Mechanical Workshop Team within one of the largest departments in the University, giving the opportunity to work on and contribute to world-leading high-profile scientific projects.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>The role will require you to manufacture parts for scientific instruments. &#160;Also the role includes the fitting and assembly of components, sub-assemblies and complete equipment to appropriate precision and other standards, being able to effectively interpret engineering drawings and quickly identifying inconsistencies is a required essential skill. You will liaise and advise with academic, research support and other staff on the mechanical production aspects involved in their research or other activities.&#160; A key aspect of the role is the efficient and safe operation of the full range of standard mechanical workshop machines and other processes.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>Additional duties will include installation, modification and maintenance of apparatus and equipment at sites away from Oxford both within the UK and overseas.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>Applicants should preferably hold a BTEC Higher National Certificate/Diploma in Mechanical or Production Engineering or an equivalent qualification. Lower qualifications would be considered if offset by experience significantly greater than the minimum specified above.&#160;&#160;</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>Previous experience in the field of high technology research and development and CNC machining is essential.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>The successful candidates will have previous experience of manufacturing components using CNC and standard machines and fitting them into assemblies and complete pieces of equipment required for research.&#160;</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>Additional relevant qualifications and/or experience would be advantageous.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>Please direct enquiries about the role to Mike Tacon (mike.tacon@physics.ox.ac.uk)</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>Only applications received before midday (UK time) 30 April 2024 can be considered.
