Head of Research Support and Facilitation

<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <p></p><div>An excellent opportunity has risen at the School of Geography and Environment (SoGE) as we are in search of a Head of Research Support and Facilitation.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>The Head of Research Support and Facilitation is a key post and is responsible for delivering a high-quality service across the school&#8217;s research support and facilitation operations.&#160; The post-holder will have demonstrable experience of research administration and of managing and developing a team. The post holder will be adaptable and able to shape the role and the research support team as required in response to changes in the school&#8217;s research portfolio, strategy and the funding environment. They will represent the school&#8217;s within both the Social Science division and the wider University acting as liaison between the Department the University.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>The post holder is supported by the Research support and facilitation team and is responsible for overseeing all of SoGE&#8217;s research funding applications (including those routed through the school&#8217;s hosted research centers) through the proposal stage as well as liaising with the University&#8217;s Research Services Contracts team and departmental Finance team for the set-up of awards.&#160;</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>Advising and working closely with the Director of Research, the post-holder will be expected to be involved in the continued development of the research strategy and identifying new funding opportunities in furtherance of the school&#8217;s mission.&#160; They will develop and implement policies and to oversee support for audits and reviews, including the Research Excellence Framework (REF) for which they will be the primary professional services lead.</div><br> <div>The post holder is Secretary to the School&#8217;s Research Committee, the Departmental Research and Ethics Committee (DREC), the departmental Engagement and Impact Group (EIG) and the REF Working Group.&#160; They will oversee and manage two internal research funds; the annual Research Environment Culture Fund and the termly travel grants.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>The post-holder will work closely with the Head of School, Head of Administration and Finance and Director of Research and provide reports to the School&#8217;s Research Committee and REF Working Group on a regular basis.&#160; The post-holder will represent SoGE at divisional level for CUREC, Open Access and some aspects of REF.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>To be successful you will, need to be educated to a degree level (or equivalent experience) and have experience of research administration within a higher education setting, and knowledge of the higher education research funding landscape including challenges faced by institutions and individual researchers.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div><strong>Enquiries may be directed to the</strong> &#160;<strong><a rel="nofollow" href="mailto:recruit@ouce.ox.ac.uk">recruit@ouce.ox.ac.uk</a></strong> <strong>.
