Project Manager

Applications for this vacancy closed on 25 June 2024 at 12:00PM
The Oxford Internet Institute – founded in 2001 - is a multidisciplinary
research and teaching department of the University of Oxford, dedicated to the
social science of the Internet.

We are looking to appoint a Grade 8 Project Manager for the Fairwork project.
This is a full-time post, available for a fixed term duration to start
immediately for 12 months and is based in Oxford.

The Fairwork project is recruiting a highly skilled and experienced Project
Manager to play a key role in the coordination of the Fairwork network and its
projects. Led by Professor Mark Graham (Oxford Internet Institute, University
of Oxford), the project assesses digital labour platforms and companies in the
AI supply chain against principles of fair work and strives to push for
positive change in the digital economy. The project has a large established
network, operating currently in 39 countries, and with over 200 researchers
worldwide.

This is a key and senior role in the project involving tasks such as:

• having oversight of the overall project timelines

• arranging appropriate sequencing of priorities

• ensuring that project deliverables and outputs are planned and delivered
effectively and on time

• coordinating with collaborating institutions

The role will be extremely fast paced, technically demanding and will entail
working with partners around the world, as well as the Fairwork team based in
Oxford (Oxford Internet Institute) and WZB: Berlin Social Science Center
(Berlin).

The Project Manager will have outstanding strategic, operational and financial
skills and will be used to managing complex projects, with demanding timelines
and requirements. This appointment offers a unique opportunity to take on
significant operational responsibilities in an exciting multidisciplinary
action research project.

Whilst this role is a grade 8 position, we are willing to consider candidates
with potential but less demonstrable experience who are seeking a development
opportunity, for which an initial appointment would be at grade 7 with the
responsibilities adjusted accordingly. This would be discussed with applicants
at interview/appointment where appropriate.

More information and full details of the requirements for this post can be
found in the Job Description link below.

Further queries can be directed to Prof. Mark Graham –
mark.graham@oii.ox.ac.uk or Dr Funda Ustek-Spilda – funda.ustek@oii.ox.ac.uk.

You will be required to upload a supporting statement, a CV, and details of
two referees as part of your online application. The closing date for
applications is 12.00 midday UK Time on 25th June 2024. Only online
applications received before then will be considered.

Interviews for those short-listed are currently planned to take place on the
week commencing 15th July 2024.
