**About the role**
The Horton Library is a small and friendly library and we get to know our
readers well. Your duties as library assistant will include: welcoming
readers, issuing and returning books, shelving and tidying, registering
readers, answering simple library and IT enquiries and referring more complex
ones to the Outreach Librarian.
Your duties will also include staffing the Horton Library on your own at times
and ensuring the library & other relevant areas in the building are locked up
at the end of the day.
This is a part-time, fixed-term position, working 29.2 hours per week until 31
March 2025 due to NHS funding. Your working hours will be within our opening
times of 09:00-17:00, Monday-Friday. Your non-working hours will be negotiable
but will need to meet the requirements of the service. You will be based at
the Horton Hospital Library, Banbury, but you may very occasionally be
expected to work at other Bodleian Health Care Libraries in Oxford.
This role requires regular manual handling and some lone working. Full
training will be given.

You will have excellent customer services and communication skills, as well as
good general IT skills, including use of email, internet, and general
applications such as Microsoft Office. You will also have the ability to work
independently and as part of a small team.
