**About the role**



The Ashmolean is the University of Oxford’s museum of art and archaeology.
We’re Britain’s first public museum, home to half a million years of human
history and creativity, from ancient Egyptian mummies to modern art, and much
more.





This is an exciting opportunity to lead the Ashmolean’s in-house graphic
design provision, being responsible for leading on the provision of highly
creative graphic design direction and leadership across the Museum’s public
facing activities and internal communications.





You will work with world-class collections across 63 galleries, producing
design solutions for displays and exhibitions that inform, inspire and
challenge our diverse audiences. You will also work on wayfinding and onsite
promotions within the Ashmolean’s historic Grade 1 listed building and its
modern six-storey redevelopment, to constantly improve and enhance the visitor
experience.





You will be responsible for managing and continually developing the Museum’s
brand identity to support the visitor experience; showcase the Museum’s
collections and build its reputation as a world-class museum. Working with
stakeholders across the Ashmolean, and the University of Oxford, you will
develop and manage major design projects and creates visual approaches to
graphics for Communications, Marketing, Audience & Content, Learning,
Exhibitions, Development, Digital Media, and Commercial products/services.





This is a full-time, permanent position, working 37.5 hours per week. A hybrid
work pattern can be considered for this role with a maximum of 2 days per week
from home.





**About You**



You will be highly organised and a good communicator and must have a proactive
approach, and be practically minded. You will have a high standard portfolio,
demonstrating strong conceptual skills, proven creative approach, successful
solutions to design briefs, ability and interest in narrative design.





You will be expected to work independently as well as across different teams
in order to contribute to and deliver the priorities of the Ashmolean – using
your knowledge, skills, talent and potential to make your mark on an
internationally acclaimed museum in the heart of Oxford.
