Postdoctoral Epidemiologist
Applications for this vacancy closed on 28 November 2024 at 12:00PM
The Nuffield Department of Population Health (NDPH) contains world-renowned
population health research groups and provides an excellent environment for
multi-disciplinary research and teaching. Based within NDPH, The China
Kadoorie Biobank (CKB) Study is a uniquely rich and powerful global resource
for investigating the environmental and genetic determinants of common chronic
diseases.
We are looking for a Postdoctoral Epidemiologist to work on a Wellcome funded
project which seeks to understand the impacts of alcohol drinking on health in
diverse populations. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a
programme of research that assess the associations of alcohol drinking on a
wide range of mental and physical health outcomes, investigate causal
relevance, and explore the underlying biological mechanisms, which takes
advantage of the breadth of multi-omic and phenotypic data available in large
prospective cohorts including China Kadoorie Biobank (CKB) and UK Biobank
(UKB).
To be considered for the Postdoctoral Epidemiologist role, you will hold, or
be close to completion of, a PhD/DPhil in epidemiology, genetic epidemiology,
molecular epidemiology, medical statistics or other relevant subject. You will
have experience of analysing and interpreting risk factors and/or biomarker
data in relation to health outcomes as well as strong programming skills in a
statistical language, for example R, for data analysis and visualisation. You
will also have excellent written and communication skills with strong
organisational and time management skills.
The position is full time (part time considered) and fixed term for 3 years.
The closing date for applications is noon on 28 November 2024.
You will be required to upload a CV and Supporting Statement as part of your
online application. The Supporting Statement should include a cover letter and
should also clearly describe how you meet each of the selection criteria
listed in the job description.
