The Townley group at Begbroke Science Park is looking for a detail-oriented
Laboratory Technician to join our team and support the maintenance of an
organized and efficient lab environment. Key responsibilities will include
autoclaving tissue culture waste, refilling liquid nitrogen tanks, cleaning
incubators and tissue culture hoods, and liaising with external suppliers for
orders and servicing. Depending on experience, the post holder may also assist
with chemical solution preparation, media preparation, and cell culture
maintenance.
The successful candidate will ensure smooth lab operations by maintaining
equipment, monitoring stock levels, assisting with service contracts, and
contributing to the writing of basic operating procedures. Additional duties
include washing, sterilizing, and disposing of lab equipment, performing
quality checks, and assisting in the training of less experienced team
members.
Staying informed on Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), Health and Safety
regulations, and COSHH guidelines is essential, as is providing guidance to
ensure compliance.
To apply, you should have prior lab experience, familiarity with hazardous
chemicals, and at least an A-level (or equivalent) science qualification.
Strong attention to detail, troubleshooting skills, and proficiency in
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) are required. Knowledge of health
and safety regulations and experience with the Oracle ordering system is also
desirable.
