Founder's Building

The erection of this building was made possible by the anonymous donation of one million pounds. We are extremely grateful to the donor for this generous gift.

Initial plans for the building, which provide the College with seminar rooms and accommodation, were made in 1993, but it was not till 1999 that work actually started. The building was completed in June 2000, in time for the College's special celebration for its former members - Antonians' Weekend 7-9 July. On 6 October, the building was inaugurated by HRH The Princess Royal. The day was chosen to coincide with the College's 50th anniversary and the date when it opened its doors for the first time to students.

The building forms three sides of a square, surrounding an open courtyard, and mirrors the outer wings of the Main Building. The northern and eastern wings consist entirely of en suite study bedrooms. The southern wing is divided into two sections, one comprising three seminar rooms (two of which can be sub-divided) on the ground floor and one and two bedroom flats on the upper three floors. The other section, narrowly separated from the rest of the southern wing, is the fully-fitted Fitness Centre. In addition, there is a separate building just to the east of the northern wing, which is the music room/extra seminar room.

Situated in the southeastern corner of the College grounds, on the corner of Winchester and Bevington roads, the Founder's Building is built of natural clay brick, with stone facings and a slate roof, which harmonise both with the College buildings and with those in the immediate vicinity. A heat-recovery system is one of the many innovative features and all rooms are equipped with Ethernet sockets: there is WiFi throughout the buildings
