The Careers Service is seeking an enthusiastic IT Officer to join the small
but busy IT team within the department. We are looking for candidates with
some experience in IT and Data Analysis and a willingness to learn. The
appointee will be reporting to the IT Manager and provide essential first- and
second-line support across the service, alongside assisting the IT team in
various data projects.





The Careers Service IT Team supports around 40 laptops, 20 desktops onsite and
remotely. We are primarily Windows based with infrastructure on Server 2016,
laptops, and desktops on Windows 10 / 11. We additionally support OSX laptops.
The infrastructure at the careers service is supported by its own IT team,
switches, servers, wireless, along with VOIP enabled telephony. Lastly, we do
run and provide support to a number of project websites, and are building our
database capacity. Regarding databases, they are built on SQL Server, SSIS,
using C#, PowerShell, and presented in reports and dashboards using Power Bi.





The successful applicant will play a crucial role within the IT team
undertaking a broad range of tasks. Primarily dealing with first line IT
enquires, laptop, desktop and application support, student management system
administration, data & reporting projects, alongside contributing to other IT
projects.





**About You**





We are looking for candidates with and understanding of systems described
above along with a solid foundation of IT systems theories, e.g. IPv4,
application stack. For the data side of the role candidates need to have an
understanding of how to create accurate and high-quality datasets from raw
data. Be able to interrogate data for quality and accuracy. Candidates will
need good communication, problem solving, and prioritisations skills. Be able
to think on their feet and provide quick solutions to problems.





Experience working in higher education would be helpful, but we are more
interested in your technical expertise and willingness to learn and to think
creatively.

This role also offers the opportunity for hybrid working up to 40% from home,
minimum 60% on site in Oxford.
