**THIS POST COULD BE CONSIDERED AS A SECONDMENT OPPORTUNITY**

**About the role**
We are seeking to appoint a Resource Description Assistant to process the
modern printed titles belonging to the recently donated Robert Craft
Collection. The collection has a focus on music; the titles are mostly in
English with some in European languages. This is an opportunity to contribute
to the work of the Bodleian Libraries by helping to make this important
material available to our students and researchers.
You will triage the collection, adding information into our library management
system or recording data in an Excel spreadsheet to enable the creation of
basic catalogue records. You will carry out physical processing of the
material such as adding bookplates, stamps, and security tags. You will also
be required to handle and move material safely and keep relevant statistics to
chart your progress.
This is a full-time, fixed-term position, working 36.5 hours per week for one
year based at our Collections Storage Facility in Swindon.
This role involves some manual handling – full training will be given.
**About You**
You will be able to undertake routine tasks with care and accuracy. Experience
of structured data entry in an online environment will be an advantage. You
will have a good knowledge of spoken and written English. You will be expected
to liaise effectively with colleagues, and to work independently without close
supervision.
**What We Offer**
As an employer, we genuinely care about our employees’ wellbeing and this is
reflected in the range of benefits that we offer including:
• An excellent contributory pension scheme
• 38 days of annual leave
• A comprehensive range of childcare services
• Family leave schemes
• Cycle loan scheme
• Discounted bus travel and Season Ticket travel loans
More information is available at **https://hr.admin.ox.ac.uk/staff-benefits**
**Diversity**
Our staff and students come from all over the world, and we proudly promote a
friendly and inclusive culture. Diversity is positively encouraged, through
diverse groups and champions, as well as a number of family-friendly policies,
such as the right to apply for flexible working and support for staff
returning from periods of extended absence, for example, shared parental
leave.
**How to apply**
You will be required to upload your CV and a supporting evidence form using
the attached template as part of your online application. Your supporting
evidence form should list each of the essential and desirable selection
criteria, as listed in the job description, and explain how you meet each one.
Both documents listed above must be submitted to be considered for this role.
We aim to provide a supportive working environment and are happy to discuss
training and professional development opportunities. The Chair of this
recruitment panel will be Gail Beadnell, Head of Resource Description, who can
be contacted with enquiries relating to the role
(gail.beadnell@bodleian.ox.ac.uk). General queries about the recruitment and
application process should be directed to the Recruitment team within our
Human Resources department (recruitment@glam.ox.ac.uk).
Only applications received online by 12.00 midday (BST) on Monday 30 September
2024 can be considered. Interviews are expected to take place on Friday 18
October 2024.
