We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual with a
passion for supporting graduate students to join the Africa Oxford Initiative
as a Student Engagement Officer, at the Nuffield Department of Medicine.





This is a varied and interesting role, with responsibility for building and
managing a database of African graduate students in Oxford, and for welcoming
new students during Fresher’s Week – you will ensure that new students are
included in the database and that the database is updated yearly. Other
responsibilities will include attending the events hosted by the student
societies and others (e.g. the AfriSoc Conference, general meetings, etc.) as
an AfOx representative, and working closely with the AfOx Communications
Officer, AfriSoc and other relevant parts of the University to design and
implement access and outreach initiatives such as the AfriSoc-AfOx Mentorship
Programme.





It is essential that you are educated to A-Level standard, with excellent
interpersonal, advocacy and diplomacy skills with the ability to communicate
cearly and effectively with a wide range of stakeholders. You will have
demonstrable experience of recognising challenges faced by students and
developing programmes to support them.

This position is offered part-time (20 hours per week) on a fixed term
contract for 3 years and is funded by the Mastercard Foundation.
