The Pitt Rivers Museum (PRM) is one of the most dynamic and exciting museums
in the UK. As a university museum it is highly valued both in the education
sector and in the cultural and creative industry sector. This was recognised
in 2019 when the museum was a finalist for the Art Fund Museum of the Year.
Visitors are at an all-time high with 2019 witnessing over half a million
visitors.
We are seeking to appoint a Maintenance Technician to join our Facilities
Team. The team is responsible for managing the building to maintain a first-
class museum environment. Supporting the Head of Facility Management, the team
ensures that all museum equipment is properly logged, accounted for, serviced,
and maintained.
As a member of the Facilities Team, you will contribute to providing a
dedicated day-to-day facilities management service for staff, visitors, and
students. The following skills are required for consideration:
• General maintenance skills with excellent eye for detail
• Good time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks, keeping
the relevant people informed of progress.
• Electrical knowledge, rewiring plugs, extension leads, changing fuses and,
under supervision, installation of low volt display lighting.
• Being responsible for setting alarms as required and solving problems in the
absence of the Head of Facility Management
• Opening and closing museum as required.
• On emergency call out in case of an alarm during closed hours
• Supervision of contractors, film crews etc working in the Museum or at any
of its site
Any necessary training will be provided.
The position is a permanent role on a 5-day a week basis (Mon-Fri).
