**About the Role:**

As a **Fire Risk Assessor** at the University of Oxford, you’ll be stepping

You’ll be at the heart of keeping the University safe, making sure we meet all
the latest fire safety laws and regulations.

**A brief part of what you will be doing:**

• **Be an integral part of a New Fire Safety Vision:** Help us launch a brand-

pragmatic and effective assessment to be made of our unique building stock,

and management systems in place to ensure the fire strategy can work
effectively.

• **Stay Ahead of the Game:** Stay on top of the latest fire safety laws,
trends, and best practices by attending training, meetings, and conferences.
Bring new ideas to the table and help us continue to innovate and improve our
safety culture through the **EveryDaySafe** programme.

**What We Offer:**

• 30 days of annual leave (excluding public holidays)

• Extensive personal and professional development opportunities

• Excellent contributory pension scheme

• Subsidised sports centre membership and cycle loan scheme

• Supportive childcare services and generous family leave

**What We ’re Looking For:**

**Essential Qualifications and Skills:**

• Strong knowledge of current fire safety legislation, relevant codes of
practice, British Standards, and Building Regulations.

• Recognised professional qualification in fire safety management and fire
risk assessments from credible providers (e.g., Fire Protection Association,
Fire Industry Association, NEBOSH).

• Proven experience in completing detailed Fire Risk Assessments and reports.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal,
with the ability to convey complex information clearly.

• A proactive and independent approach to work, as well as the ability to
collaborate effectively as part of a team.

**Desirable Qualifications and Skills:**

• Experience in fire safety within a research environment.

• Familiarity with passive and active fire systems, emergency lighting, and
smoke ventilation systems.

• Experience acting as Clerk of Works.

• Diploma in Fire Safety/Prevention or equivalent, along with membership in a
professional body (e.g., IFE, IFPO, IFSM).
