Senior Research Software Engineer

The post holder will be a member of the Wellcome Centre for Integrative
Neuroimaging (WIN). WIN conducts research in methods and modelling of brain
imaging data, including functional MRI, diffusion MRI, and structural MRI. WIN
members have developed the widely used FMRIB Software Library (FSL), which
enables the methods created within WIN to have a worldwide impact on the
neuroimaging community.
The post holder will work with clinical researchers and members of the FSL
team to develop neuroimaging software aimed at clinical use and clinical
research. Duties will include: software development activities to enhance
existing software for clinical use (including building clinically-oriented
user interfaces around core image processing tools, and interfacing with
hospital image storage systems); develop new software for neuroimaging
analysis; contribute to ongoing and new research projects; build and enhance
software test systems; and maintain existing software projects as required.
This role involves interacting with software engineers, researchers,
clinicians, and regulatory consultants. Excellent communication skills are
essential.
The post holder will contribute to software that may be part of a company that
Oxford University aims to spinout soon. In the event that a spinout company is
formed, the post holder may be offered an opportunity to join, subject to all
required department approvals (though this current post within Oxford
University will exist for at least 2 years regardless).
