<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <p></p><div>The core purpose of the University of Oxford&#8217;s Biomedical Services (BMS) is to provide for the care and welfare of animals in experimental research and in doing so we support the scientific community across the University. We are in effect an internal business with researchers as our customers.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>At BMS we have an in-house veterinary team, with a clear remit that supports our researchers by providing the clinical expertise they need and advising them on animal welfare and how to work within the legal compliance framework of the Animal (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986 (ASPA).</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>We are looking for people who appreciate the need to provide animal services for the advancement of medical and life sciences research. Our vets therefore have a core role to play in providing expert support and clinical procedural expertise not only to the University&#8217;s Principal Investigators and their research groups but also to our animal technicians at BMS.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>As well as an excellent remuneration and benefits package, we will train our new vets who are not already Named Veterinary Surgeons to achieve NVS status, thereby enhancing not just your expertise but also your career opportunities. Once an NVS with experience, the salary band will be increased to grade 9. It is expected that this transition from grade 8 to grade 9 will take place 12 months from commencement.
