Applications for this vacancy closed on 9 October 2023 at 12:00PM
**PREVIOUS APPLICANTS NEED NOT APPLY**

We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral scientist with experience in protein
purification, biophysical characterization of protein ligand interactions,
functional assay development as well as crystallization and structure
determination of proteins. You will join the CMD Chemical Biology Group at the
Target Discovery Institute, Nuffield Department of Medicine.

You will be responsible for unravelling the fundamental role of novel RNA
binding proteins involved in human disease. You will be developing biochemical
assays and studying the interaction of low molecular weight modulators to
protein interaction domains and understand the SAR (structure activity
relationship) of compound classes with the goal to develop a highly selective
first- in-class chemical probes. You will contribute to the scientific output
by publishing high quality manuscripts and by representing the group on
scientific meetings.

It is essential that you hold a PhD (or near completion) in protein
biochemistry and structural biology with an excellent academic track record
(at least one first author publication in an expert journal). Having an
extensive experience in cloning and recombinant protein purification using
bacterial, insect cell and mammalian host systems is essential, and you will
have a demonstrable experience in biochemical assay development using various
read-outs and biophysical ligand binding methods such as isothermal titration
calorimetry (ITC) and surface plasmon resonance (SPR).

Applications for this vacancy are to be made online and you will be required
to upload a supporting statement and CV as part of your online application.
Your supporting statement must explain how you meet each of the selection
criteria for the post using examples of your skills and experience. You must
