Associate Professorship in Digital South Asian Studies

<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <p></p><div>The Oxford Internet Institute (OII), the Oxford School of Global and Area Studies (OSGA), in association with St Antony&#8217;s College, propose to appoint an Associate Professor in Digital South Asian Studies.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>OSGA is one of the fifteen constituent parts of the Social Sciences Division at Oxford. The School represents a commitment by the University to enhancing teaching and research in Area Studies. OII has been a world-leading home for multidisciplinary study of technology and society, with activities focusing on research, graduate teaching, policymaking, and practice spanning the last twenty years.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div><strong>About the Role:</strong></div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>The post is offered on a full-time basis, available from 1 October 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter.</div><br> <div>Appointments to Associate Professorships are confirmed as permanent on successful completion of a review during the first five years.&#160; The successful candidate will be expected to engage actively in research in digital South Asian studies; and to contribute through world-class publications to the departments&#8217; and University's international reputation for research excellence. Further responsibilities include teaching and supervising at the graduate level, contributing fully to academic administration and examining in both University departments.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>The post will be held in conjunction with a Governing Body Fellowship at St Antony&#8217;s College and their role in the College will entail advising students, serving on committees, participating in its running as a College member and trustee.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div><strong>About You:</strong></div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>The candidate will be a South Asian specialist, undertaking research on and holding a doctorate in a social science field relevant to the study of digital technology and society in one or more South Asian countries.
