Research Nurse

<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <p></p><div>The Nuffield Department of Women&#8217;s &amp; Reproductive Health (NDWRH) is seeking a motivated Research Nurse for the RoADPain Project.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>Being a woman is an important risk factor for developing chronic pain. Women are over-represented in almost all chronic pain conditions and this sex difference begins to emerge at puberty, suggesting that changes around this time may contribute to the increased risk of chronic pain developing. A key change at this time is the onset of menstruation (menarche).</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>The study with RoADPain will recruit young people who menstruate aged between 11-20 years old. The aims of this project are to use both experimental and epidemiological approaches to understand the extent to which the experience of dysmenorrhoea during adolescence (a time when the nervous system is particularly plastic) is a risk factor for the development of chronic pain and determine the predominant pathways underlying this relationship.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>As a Research Nurse, you will have responsibility for the initial screening of potential participants and facilitating the informed consent process. Additionally, you will be tasked with working with the post-doctoral research fellow to collect, process and store saliva samples and assist with writing reports for the research sponsors and funders. There will be the opportunity to work closely with the Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) members of the team to undertake educational visits in schools and other settings and to ensure the findings are disseminated appropriately to all relevant stakeholders&#160;</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>You will have the chance to collaborate on the study and access educational and career development opportunities through the Advanced Pain Discovery Platform community network.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>The suitable candidate must either hold a degree in nursing or midwifery or have relevant experience in research studies. You should have the ability to carefully follow written procedures and have excellent attention to detail in study management and recording results. The post holder is required to have excellent communication and organisation skills.
