<div>We are seeking to appoint a Laboratory Support Technician, working as part of a team in our centralized glassware preparation facility to cover a period of maternity leave.  You will be using automated washing and sterilization machines to clean and sterilize scientific glassware for microbiological work in the research laboratories.  The role involves keeping a suite of research laboratories supplied with diverse glassware and small laboratory consumables.  You will also be required to collect and process recyclable plastics and lab waste, as well as carrying out computer-based work, data entry and stock-taking.  You will be expected to undertake other responsibilities from time to time, for example covering for staff absences in other work areas.</div><br>

<div>This full-time fixed-term post is funded by the department for up to 12 months in the first instance to cover a period of maternity leave.</div><br>

<div>The actual starting salary offered will be based on qualifications and relevant skills acquired and will also be determined by the funding available.</div><br>

<div><strong>About you</strong></div><br>

<div>Applicants should be educated to GCSE level or equivalent and should ideally have previous experience of working in laboratories. You should possess manual dexterity and a reasonable level of physical fitness.  The ability to follow predetermined protocols consistently and accurately is essential, as well as demonstrated ability to work co-operatively with others.  In addition, basic computer skills (e.g. use of email and data entry) will be required.</div><br>
