Institute Health and Safety Manager

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual, with experience in health and
safety legislation within a research environment to join the Institute’s core
team. The Institute is internationally recognised with state-of-the-art
laboratories and the work of the safety team is varied, dynamic and rewarding.
As Health and Safety Manager you will hold overall responsibility for the
oversight and management of all health and safety matters within the
Institute. You will provide proactive and professional leadership, ensuring
there is consistency of Health and Safety policy and procedures across the
Institute. In a wide-ranging role, you will work with laboratory managers and
other key staff to establish and maintain a programme of continuous
improvement, including the delivery of in-house training and presentations for
health and safety matters and accident prevention.
You will hold a Masters or PhD in an area of science directly related to the
laboratory work of the Institute and have significant experience of working in
a life sciences research and biocontainment laboratories environment.
Knowledge and/or experience of working at Biosafety Containment Levels 2 and
3, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely at all levels are
essential.
This position is available full-time (37.5 hours per week).
