<p></p><div>Applications are invited for an Assistant Keeper of the Ashmolean Museum’s collections from the Ancient Middle East. Reporting directly to the Keeper of the Department of Antiquities, the post-holder will play a pivotal role in all aspects of the curation, teaching, research, digitisation and public outreach on these internationally renowned collections.</div><br>

<div>You will facilitate access to the objects for students, scholars and members of the public, responding to enquiries and providing information about the collections. You will collaborate with colleagues in the Department of Antiquities, the wider museum and the University’s GLAM Division to develop and implement plans for rehousing the reserve collections in museum storage facilities. You will instigate and participate in collaborative research and exhibition projects that enhance the museum’s knowledge on its collections and enrich the interpretation and presentation of the material for diverse audiences.</div><br>

<div>You will have a postgraduate degree in Ancient Middle Eastern Studies, experience of curating a museum collection, and have participated in archaeological fieldwork in the Middle East. You will be a recognised international authority on the prehistory, history, material culture, art and archaeology of the Ancient Middle East, with a track record of significant publications in the field. You will have taught at university level and be capable of making presentations to undergraduate and postgraduate students, specialist groups and general audiences. You will have also developed and delivered innovative temporary exhibitions and/or permanent museum displays.</div><br>

<div>This is a full-time permanent post working 37.5 hours per week. The post-holder will be entitled to one month’s sabbatical leave for every six months of service, the timing to be agreed with the Director of the Museum.</div><br>
