Russian and East European Studies (REES) is an area unit of the Oxford School
of Global Area Studies. Its academics, graduate students, post-doctoral
fellows, and academic visitors explore the region bounded by Russia, the
republics of the former Soviet Union in Eurasia, and the East European
countries formerly part of the twentieth-century socialist bloc. Drawing on
insights and methods from across the social sciences and humanities, and
language skills focused on the region, it investigates the histories,
societies, politics, economies, and international relations of this key
region, with its increasing impact on the global community.
**About the Role:**
The Russian and East European Studies (REES) at the Oxford School of Global
Area Studies (OSGA) would like to hire a Russian Language Tutor for its
graduate students. The post is offered on a part-time variable hours basis and
available immediately.
The Russian Language Tutor will provide language training for small groups of
graduate students on the MPhil in Russian and Eastern European Studies using
materials devised and provided by the Head of Languages. The successful
candidate will contribute to the administration and examination of Russian
language under direction by the REES Head of Languages.
**About You:**
The successful candidate will hold a PhD in one of the relevant fields such as
Russian, Modern Languages or Linguistics. Should have a native speaker
competence and an advanced level of formal education in the language to be
taught. The candidate should also hold experience in teaching Russian language
for non-native speakers at the undergraduate and graduate levels. As well as
being able to communicate complex information clearly, both orally and in
writing.
