As a Mechanical Inspector, you will have the exciting opportunity to work on
landmark building projects like the Life and Mind Building - The Life and
Mind Building (ox.ac.uk) and the new Humanities building - The Stephen A.
Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities (ox.ac.uk)





These projects are at the forefront of cutting-edge research, innovation and
architectural elegance, offering you a chance to be a part of something

You will play a vital role in ensuring the quality of the installation of
mechanical systems across our campus. You will work closely with building
surveyors, electrical, mechanical, and controls engineers, making a tangible
difference in the efficiency and sustainability of our operations.





**Responsibilities:**





As a Mechanical Inspector, you will take on a variety of responsibilities,
including but not limited to:





**Quality Assurance:** Monitor the progress and quality of mechanical services
installation, ensuring compliance with specifications and design guides.
Verify the use of correct materials and workmanship.





**Progress Monitoring:** Keep a close eye on the progress of works, reporting
regularly to project engineers, managers, and programme coordinators.
Highlight issues and potential delays that may affect project



completion.





**Contractor Management:** Oversee the performance of mechanical maintenance
contractors for small works, ensuring they meet quality and safety standards.





**Technical Support:** Provide expert support to Sustainability and Capital
Projects teams, offering technical reviews of project installations and
attending on-site meetings.





**Customer Service:** Work closely with university departments to communicate
access requirements and operational needs.





**Equipment and Materials:** Check drawings for errors, oversee commissioning
progress, and ensure satisfactory work for invoice processing.

**To Be Successful You'll Need:**





• NVQ Level 4 or equivalent (e.g., qualified mechanical technician with proven
experience) or HND/HNC in Building Services design.



• Experience with Capital projects involving complex mechanical installations
and laboratory design.



• Strong experience in reviewing drawings, specifications, and project
programs.



• Substantial experience in inspecting site works.



• Experience in a customer service environment.



• General Health and Safety Knowledge, including issuing and closing Permits-
to-Work.



• Valid professionally qualified person - CSCS card or willingness to obtain
one.



• Proficiency in IT, including Microsoft Office and reporting software.
