Senior Research Software Engineer in Edge Computing

<div xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <p></p><div><strong>This is a re-advertisement, previous applicants need not apply.</strong></div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Research Software Engineer, to join the Computing Infrastructure group led by Professor Noa Zilberman, at the Department of Engineering Science (central Oxford).&#160; This full-time post is funded by Horizon Europe (UKRI) and is fixed-term until 31 December 2025.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>The Senior Research Software Engineer will contribute to the EU SMARTEDGE project. SMARTEDGE is multiple-partners Horizon Europe research project on Edge-Intelligence. In this project, Oxford is leading research of dynamic-swarm networking, enabling autonomous network-accelerated operations through in-network computing integration. You will have responsibility to contribute to the SMARTEDGE project&#8217;s development activities, including but not limited to:</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>&#8226;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; Participating in the development of network accelerated code for SMARTEDGE.</div><br> <div>&#8226;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; Participating in the development of DPU accelerated code for SMARTEDGE.</div><br> <div>&#8226;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; Develop methodologies and software to provide network-security to swarms of devices at the edge.</div><br> <div>&#8226;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; Engage in development activities with the SMARTEDGE consortium and with international partners.</div><br> <div>&#8226;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160;&#160; These activities will require testing, validation and documentation within the procedures established by the SMARTEDGE project.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>You should hold a Master&#8217;s Degree or PhD/DPhil in Engineering, Computer Science or other related field and/or an equivalent professional experience in a research environment (with the possibility to underfill at Grade 7 (&#163;36,024 - &#163;44,263 p.a.) if candidate is expected to &#8216;contribute to&#8217; instead of &#8216;have responsibility for&#8217; some of the duties).&#160; You should also have significant software development or FPGA development experience in areas related to cloud computing or scientific computing. &#160;An excellent knowledge of either Python, C or C++, P4 or Verilog, is essential, as well as in either OS network stack, hardware/network acceleration or FPGA design.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>Informal enquiries may be addressed to Professor Noa Zilberman (noa.zilberman@eng.ox.ac.uk). &#160;</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>For more information about working at the Department, see www.eng.ox.ac.uk/about/work-with-us/</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>Only online applications received before midday on <strong>Monday, 13 November 2023</strong> can be considered.
