Senior Information Governance Manager

Applications for this vacancy closed on 29 November 2023 at 12:00PM
We are looking for a highly motivated and professional individual to join the
Department of Primary Care Health Sciences to lead our Information Governance
(IG) function supporting our academic colleagues with navigating the, often
complex, IG requirements with which we engage in our delivery of world class
research and teaching.

You will be leading the development of IG resources, policies and
documentation for a variety of research centres and the wider Department,
providing advice and guidance on IG issues, supporting the deployment of IG
processes such as Data Protection by Design reviews, and working to improve
the awareness of IG principles and practices throughout the Department.

As a leader in Primary Care research, we manage and use health care data from
a variety of sources, requiring careful adherence to various data providers
terms and conditions as well as following UK GDPR, NHSE Toolkit and - more
recently, the development of Secure Research Environments (SDE) and Trusted
Research Environments (TRE). These impose requirements which we need to meet
or exceed while still supporting the work of our academic colleagues.

You will be able to apply your knowledge of data protection to help the
Department continue to meet regulatory requirements and standards as well as
support efforts towards obtaining Cyber Essentials.

You will be joining a small but supportive team as part of the wider,
integrated Department IT &IG team, with options for career progression and
development. As part of the University Medical Science Division, you will have
access to the wider IG community both from the divisional team and the wider
University IG community with the opportunity for networking across the
professional services.

The post is available full time on a permanent basis; however, we are able to
be flexible about how this would work, including flexible patterns of hours
(e.g., five days over four with long hours) or remote/on-site working (with an
expectation of 2 days on site).

You’ll also be entitled to 30 days annual leave plus bank holiday, pension
scheme, salary sacrifice scheme for childcare alongside highly-rated
University nurseries, as well as a huge range of discounts across a variety of
providers on anything from parking at the airport to Dell laptops. See
