The University of Oxford’s Social Sciences Division is looking for a Senior
Research Facilitator to provide dedicated support for collaborative, multi-
partner projects. This underpins one of our key aims within the new divisional
Research & Impact Strategy [ Research and Impact Strategy 2023 - 2028 | Social
Sciences Division (ox.ac.uk).]
To succeed in this exciting research development role, you will need excellent
interpersonal skills to proactively encourage groups of researchers to
collaborate to respond to real-world challenges by developing inter- and
multi-disciplinary approaches.
Working holistically in partnership with research, impact and engagement
support professionals in the Research, Impact and Engagement Team, and the
University-wide Strategic Research Development team, you will provide one-to-
one support to Social Science researchers leading large and complex research
funding applications, providing informed, tailored, support and advice,
including identification of appropriate funding, in-depth reviews of draft
proposals, and advice on project management and planned activity.
This senior role requires an experienced research manager and you will need
strong organisational skills and attention to detail to lead and oversee the
management of our internal research fund, and all internal peer review
processes responding to funders’ demand management requirements.
You will be responsible for line-managing the Divisional Research Facilitator
and the Research Administrator, and will lead liaison with the wider team of
departmental Research Support Officers and Facilitators to continue to provide
high quality research support for individual researchers and smaller scale
applications. Working closely with others in the Divisional Team, you will
also devise and coordinate a suite of briefings, workshops and written
guidance, tailored to suit researchers at all career stages.
This post is offered on a fixed-term basis in the first instance until October
2025. This is a full-time post (or minimum of 0.8 FTE). Hybrid working
arrangements will be considered in consultation with the line manager, but
with the expectation of working at least two days per week based in the
Divisional Office.
