Finance Officer

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, self-motivated Finance Officer to
join our Finance team at the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology. You will
provide administrative support to Research Grants Manager and Finance Manager
in applying for the research funding, from initial liaison with an academic to
ensuring the application is approved by Research Services.
You will liaise with academics and researchers to cost research applications
using the university’s research project costing software (X5), ensuring that
applications comply with sponsor guidelines and are submitted within the
required timescales to Research Services and to the sponsor. You will provide
advice and support the Principal Investigators in the preparation of grant
applications and may be asked to assist them with final reports preparation as
well as monitor spend on grants. You will also develop appropriate methods to
track all departments grant applications, awards and sponsors, providing
summarised management information on success rates to Finance Manager.
You should be educated to degree level or have equivalent experience. You
should be able to work independently as well as part of a team, be pro-active
and well organised. You should have strong organisational skills to manage and
prioritise your workload to meet strict deadlines You will have excellent IT
skills using Microsoft Office. Excellent interpersonal and communication
skills with the ability to interact equally effectively with senior academic
staff, researchers and support staff are essential. Experience of working in a
higher education and knowledge of X5 and Oracle financials would be an
advantage.
