The Section of Molecular Plant Biology (Dept. of Biology) is seeking to
recruit a Research Technician. This is a full-time post funded by the BBSRC,
working under the direction of Professor Paul Jarvis on the molecular
mechanisms of chloroplast functions in plants. We are looking for a suitably
experienced researcher to provide technical support and scientific expertise
to the research group. The work is to be conducted in the Department of
Biology, South Parks Road, Oxford OX1 3RB.
The post-holder should have: Experience in molecular biology techniques;
Experience of working in a biological research laboratory with minimal
supervision using own initiative; Previous experience of managing laboratory
stocks and supplies; Ability to work co-operatively as part of a team and to
learn new methods and skills; Experience in accurate data record keeping and
analysis, including use of computers and graphics software to assist in
interpretation and presentation of the results; Willingness to carry out
routine biological practices, e.g., sterilisation, autoclaving/washing
glassware, etc.; Good English communication skills, both written and oral;
Appropriate higher education qualification in a relevant subject.
