Oxford’s School of Global and Area Studies (OSGA) is one of the largest
communities of Area Studies scholars anywhere in the world. This vibrant and
dynamic University department has research and teaching programmes dedicated
to Africa, China, Latin America, the Middle East, Japan, Russia and Eastern
Europe, South Asia and Comparative Area Studies. The School welcomes students
from all around the globe and offers seven MSc Degrees, six MPhil degrees, a
DPhil in Area Studies, as well as the Oxford 1+1 MBA with Saïd Business
School.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join OSGA as a Safety & Facilities
Support Officer on a full-time, 3-year fixed-term contract basis.
**About the Role:**
Reporting to the School Business Continuity & Projects Manager, the successful
candidate will have general responsibility for facilitating the administrative
functions for day-to-day Health & Safety and facilities at OSGA. They will act
as the Departmental Safety Officer (DSO), assisting with the implementation of
safety policies, and providing professional customer services throughout.
Working closely with key stakeholders they will be responsible for creating a
welcoming and safe working environment for all OSGA staff, students, and
visitors. The role is available immediately and can also be offered as a
short-term secondment opportunity (for internal candidates only) and/or as a
part-time role (minimum of 80% FTE).

The post will suit an enthusiastic, reliable and conscientious individual who
enjoys being part of a busy team in an environment of competing priorities.

facilities management who can demonstrate professional awareness of Health and
Safety compliance within the workplace. Essential for the role are: the
ability to clearly and accurately communicate processes and procedures
verbally and in writing; to work independently with minimum supervision, and a
willingness to resolve situations. Experience working in a busy customer-
facing role, ideally within an HE institution or a service industry
environment, will be highly desirable.
