Academic Assistant (Years 3 and 4)
Applications for this vacancy closed on 15 March 2024 at 12:00PM
We are seeking to appoint a part-time (0.6 – 0.8 FTE) Academic Assistant to
support the growth of the Biomedical Sciences programme, and to provide
general administrative support across the academic administration team. The
post will be based in the School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the
Medical Sciences Teaching Centre, South Parks Road.
The successful applicant will become a key member of a small team which is
responsible for the administration of undergraduate courses, including student
admissions, on-course teaching, and examinations. You will report to the
Senior Academic Administrator (Admissions and Years 3 & 4). You will work
closely with the Academic Administrator supporting this function, but you will
also have your own areas of responsibility. The work can be intensive at
times, but is interesting, diverse, and rewarding.
This position offers an excellent opportunity for applicants to develop a
career in academic administration, or would suit someone with academic
administration experience seeking more flexibility with their working hours.
We are seeking a strong team player with first-rate analytical,
organisational, and IT skills, who will work systematically and to a high
level of accuracy. You should also have excellent written and verbal
communication skills and proven ability to manage a broad workload in an
efficient manner.
As an employer, we genuinely care about our employees’ wellbeing and this is
reflected in the range of benefits that we offer including:
• An excellent contributory pension scheme
• 38 days annual leave
• A comprehensive range of childcare services
• Family leave schemes
• Cycle loan scheme
• Discounted bus travel and Season Ticket travel loans
The University also runs a large number of social groups and sports clubs for
those looking for more than just a great place to work.

upload a supporting statement as part of your online application.
The closing date for applications is midday on Friday 15 March. Interviews
will be held in the week of 15 April.
