Administration Officer, Centre for Socio-Legal Studies

The Centre for Socio-Legal Studies is seeking to appoint an Administration
Officer. The postholder will be directly responsible to the Centre
Administrator and will provide general administration and secretarial support
to the Centre Administrator and the Centre Director. The postholder will also
provide assistance to the Director of Graduate Studies. It is important to
note that this is a front-facing role and the postholder will be expected to
be based onsite.
The postholder will be the first line of contact for all enquiries in the
Centre for Socio-Legal Studies, as well as being responsible for welcoming
visitors to the Centre. The postholder will arrange yearly graduate admissions
interviews, recording decisions and processing documentation for applicants,
process on-course graduate student documentation, handle financial processing
such as inputting expense reimbursement claims for the Centre Director,
raising requisitions, receipting POs and sales invoicing. They will oversee
the Academic Visitors and Recognised Students coming to the Centre, in
collaboration with the Head of the Visitors’ Programme; act as the Centre’s
seminar co-ordinator; arrange events such as the annual lecture, and be
responsible for keeping the Centre’s webpages up to date.
The successful candidate should have excellent communication skills, both
written and oral; the ability to collaborate effectively and flexibly with
colleagues and work as part of a small and tight-knit team; good numeracy
skills and the ability to organise and prioritise their own workload and work
effectively without supervision, whilst ensuring attention to detail and a
high level of accuracy, even under pressure; and be a highly competent IT
user, with experience of using Microsoft Word applications. Experience of
working within a Higher Education institution and knowledge and experience of
using the University’s eVision system and the University’s Oracle financial
software is desirable.
This is a full time permanent post and the postholder will be based at the
Centre for Socio-Legal Studies, Manor Road Building, Oxford.
