**About the role**
The Department of Biology is seeking to recruit a Research Technician. This is
a full-time post, funded by the Gatsby Charitable Foundation and the John Fell
Fund for 12 months, working under the direction of Dr. Tina Schreier in the
Department of Biology, University of Oxford, South Parks Road, Oxford OX1 3RB.
The responsibilities/duties of the postholder will be to undertake research
work as directed by the supervisor. The postholder will provide support in
establishing an efficient transformation protocol for the C4 plant
_Gynandropsis gynandra._ The work will primarily involve plant transformation
and tissue culture.
**About you**
The postholder should have experience of plant tissue culture and a proven
record of successfully maintaining sterile in vitro cultures. Molecular
biology skills and experience of working with minimal supervision are
required, along with the ability to work co-operatively as part of a team and
to learn new methods and skills. A proven track record of accurate record
keeping, and data analysis is essential. The successful applicant will have
good communication skills and will be educated to at least A-level or
equivalent qualification in science.
