<p></p><div>The Nuffield Department of Women’s & Reproductive Health (NDWRH) is seeking a motivated Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Ovarian Cancer Biology.</div><br>
<div> </div><br>
<div>The project models tumour development as an important prerequisite for the discovery of key molecular drivers of transformation. This experimental process is an important stepping stone towards the discovery of biomarkers for early detection and prevention of cancer. For this process to be efficient a deep understanding of the genomic landscape of premalignant processes is required. Moreover, an understanding of the physiology of tissue maintenance and regeneration is required by studying tissue-specific stem cell biology. Such understanding enables modelling of cancer initiation by perturbing specific physiological processes of regeneration.</div><br>
<div> </div><br>
<div>The postholder will join a team of investigators, led by Professor Ahmed Ahmed, in a study that will model ovarian cancer through perturbing key physiological processes of fallopian tube specific stem cell regulation.  The study will utilize cutting edge genome editing technology and aims to establish the key genetic features that lead to tumour initiation. The role will be based at the Ovarian Cancer Cell Laboratory (Ahmed Group) at the Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine.</div><br>
<div> </div><br>
<div>As a Postdoctoral Research Assistant, you will have responsibility for ensuring the quality of the data, conceiving and apply tests to check data for errors and inconsistencies. Additionally, you will be tasked with working closely with collaborators providing regular progress reports as well as representing the research group at external meetings/seminars, either with other members of the group or alone.</div><br>
<div> </div><br>
<div>You will take overall responsibility and leadership for making a significant contribution to the scientific objectives of the overall research goals ensuring appropriate levels of integration with the team and more widely with collaborators and colleagues. Furthermore, you will ensure the upkeep of accurate records of experimental plans, work and results.</div><br>
<div> </div><br>
<div>The suitable candidate must hold either a PhD in a subject with a substantial cell biology component or near completion. You should have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team to manage the day-to-day running of a research project. The post holder is required to have experience of contributing to scientific papers as evidenced by publications.  Demonstrable evidence of excellent written and verbal communication skills, e.g. peer-reviewed research papers, external conference talks, teaching and have expertise in using organoid models and high throughput next generation sequencing.</div><br>
<div> </div><br>
<div>The post is offered on a part-time basis and is fixed term for 12 months in the first instance.</div><br>
<div> </div><br>
<div>Applications for flexible working arrangements are welcomed and will be considered in line with business needs.</div><br>
