**Senior Student Survey and Data Analyst **
**Student Registry, AAD**
The University of Oxford is a stimulating work environment, which enjoys an
international reputation as a world-class centre of excellence. Our research
plays a key role in tackling many global challenges, from reducing our carbon
emissions to developing vaccines during a pandemic.
**Department**
The Student Data Management & Analysis (SDMA) team provides a portfolio of
data, reporting and statistical services for the University of Oxford. In
addition to maintaining and facilitating access to reporting datasets on
Oxford students and undergraduate applicants, the team also leads on
developing the strategy for and facilitating delivery of university-wide
student surveys.
This role is located within the statistical services team with
responsibilities split between student surveys and statistical analysis
projects. On the surveys side, you will be the lead for the University’s
centrally managed surveys and will manage the contributions from other teams
that play an important role in surveys. On the statistical analysis side, you
will provide statistical support to other departments and divisions, designing
and delivering statistical research in the area of student data analysis
aligned with the University’s strategic priorities.
**What We Offer**
As an employer, we genuinely care about our employees’ wellbeing and this is
reflected in the range of benefits that we offer including:
• An excellent contributory pension scheme
• 38 days annual leave
• A comprehensive range of childcare services
• Family leave schemes
• Cycle loan scheme
• Discounted bus travel and Season Ticket travel loans
• Membership to a variety of social and sports clubs
This role also offers the opportunity for hybrid working.
For the right candidate we would consider underfilling the role as a grade 7
Student Survey and Data Analyst (£36,024-£44,263 per annum) with an
appropriate reduction in duties.
**About the Role**
As a Student Survey and Data Analyst, your role will be split approximately
50:50 between student surveys and statistical analysis projects.
On the surveys side, you will lead on the University’s centrally managed
surveys where you will be responsible for:
• producing analysis of survey results in the form of committee papers,
headline reports and dashboards
• engaging with stakeholders to understand their needs and ensuring that
reporting is useful and accessible
• making recommendations to the Student Survey Operations and Strategy Groups
regarding the feasibility, design, and set-up of surveys
• using the University’s recommended survey tools to build and administer
surveys
• acting as an expert on student surveys and survey design, providing best
practice, advice and support as needed to colleagues who are running their own
surveys
You will also provide statistical support to departments and divisions, and
design and deliver statistical research and analysis aligned with the
University’s strategic priorities. You will work with a degree of
independence, liaising directly with senior colleagues to establish research
questions, agree appropriate methodologies and communicate findings clearly,
accessibly and persuasively. You will also work closely with colleagues in
SDMA to ensure that findings from statistical research are informing the wider
provision of data analysis and reporting.
**About You**
We are looking for candidates with significant experience of surveys including
quantitative analysis of responses. You must have a good understanding of
statistical methods and extensive experience with relevant software such as
SPSS, R, or Python. You should be a confident and effective communicator, able
to engage with stakeholders at all levels who may posess different levels of
statistical expertise. We would expect you to be able to work with a high
degree of independence as well as in collaboration with stakeholders from
across the University.
**Application Process**
You will be required to upload a covering letter/supporting statement, CV and
the details of two referees as part of your online application. Please also
submit evidence of your experience with a statistical software or programming
language of choice (e.g. SPSS, R, Python), such as a 2-page code extract
dealing with data manipulation, descriptive or statistical analyses. The code
does not need to be self-contained (i.e. an extract from an existing longer
file is acceptable), and please do not send data files or use AI tools for
this task.
The closing date for applications is 12noon on 15 July 2024.
Interviews will take place during week commencing 29 July 2024 and will be
held in person
