Statutory professors have a world-leading research reputation and exercise broad academic leadership across their department and college, and more widely in their subject at national and international level. The previous holder of this chair was Georg Gottlob.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>The University of Oxford&#8217;s Department of Computer Science has broad strengths across the spectrum of computer science from theoretical computer science to systems and applications. It is one of the country&#8217;s leading computer science departments and is ranked first in a number of international rankings.&#160;</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>The successful candidate will be an outstanding, internationally recognised researcher in computer science, with a proven record of research achievement. They will establish and lead a research team in their area of expertise and will also play a leading role in further developing computer science at Oxford.</div><br> <div>&#160;</div><br> <div>The professorship is available with effect from 1 September 2025.
