Laboratory Technician

We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Laboratory Technician to join our
fantastic team at the Centre for Medicines Discovery (CMD), Nuffield
Department of Medicine. As a Laboratory Technician, you will work with four of
our small research facilities (Protein Production, BBG, PX, and HDX SRFs) to
help coordinate and maintain smooth running of the facilities. These SRFs
support the wider CMD’s research teams, doing experiments in protein
production, biophysical and biochemical assays, protein crystallography, and
H/D exchange mass spectrometry
You will be responsible for aiding in the day-to-day running of the laboratory
including monitoring lab supplies to ensure stock is maintained and that good
records are kept of supplies, You will be tasked with the coordination between
the four SRFs to ensure good communication between them on matters of
consumable supplies and in charge of maintaining equipment, including washing,
sterilisation, and disposal, performing quality checks, and contributing to
the general cleanliness and upkeep of the laboratory space and equipment and
organising lab cleaning rotas.
You will also be responsible for keeping up to date with and advising on
matters relating to Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), Health and Safety, and
other regulations relevant to the post.
To be successful in this role, you must be educated to an A level or
equivalent in a science subject. You will know health and safety regulations
and have experience working in a laboratory environment, along with the
ability to work cooperatively as part of a team and independently while taking
personal responsibility for assigned tasks. You will also have excellent
organisational skills and strong attention to detail, with the ability to
organise and record results clearly and organised.
