Event AV & IT Support Specialist

Established in 2019, Reuben College is located at the heart of Oxford,
adjacent to the Museum of Natural History, within a beautifully refurbished
historic building. We are seeking an experienced Event AV & IT Support
Specialist to join our team, playing a crucial role in ensuring the smooth
operation of audio-visual systems during college and external events.
**About the role**
As an Event AV & IT Support Specialist, you will coordinate with the college
IT and Events teams to prepare for various events, including seminars,
workshops, conferences, recorded presentations, and student events. Your
presence during these events will be essential, as you will assist presenters
and organizers with AV equipment, manage microphone levels and camera layouts,
and ensure smooth screen sharing. Additionally, you will be responsible for
providing simple troubleshooting solutions, recording events using the Panopto
system, and regularly checking and maintaining AV equipment. You will also
support less experienced staff by offering training and guidance.
**About you**
To excel in this role, you should have a solid understanding of AV equipment
and basic IT systems, coupled with the ability to troubleshoot display and
audio settings across multiple operating systems. Excellent communication and
interpersonal skills are vital, as you will interact with senior staff and
important guests. You should remain calm under pressure, demonstrate strong
attention to detail, and manage your workload independently. Proficiency in
Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint is also required.
This post is offered as a fixed-term variable hour contract until 31 July
2025, with the possibility of becoming permanent.
We estimate there will a requirement for 4-6 hours of support per week,
primarily during late afternoons and evenings, with some weekend work. The
College hold a regular event each Tuesday in term time you will be expected to
support and the other hours will be agreed no later than a week in advance.
_Please be aware, the University has introduced a pensionable Oxford
University Weighting of £1,500 a year (pro rata) for all staff on grades 1–10
of the main salary and grading structure which will be implemented in the
September 2024 payroll and backdated to 1 August 2024. Please follow the link
