Postdoctoral Research Assistant for the ATLAS experiment
Applications for this vacancy closed on 10 September 2024 at 12:00PM
The Sub-department of Particle Physics at the University of Oxford is
currently seeking a talented and highly qualified postdoctoral research
assistant to work on the ATLAS experiment at the LHC on a 3-year fixed-term
contract.
The postholder will be joining one of the largest and most prominent groups on
the ATLAS experiment. Our effort is broadly focused on searches for new
physics, the exploration of the Higgs sector, standard model measurements, and
operational support of the ATLAS experiment. We also play a substantial role
in the ATLAS Phase 2 Upgrade silicon tracker. The successful candidate will
play a leading role in a team studying the decay of a Higgs boson to b- and
c-quarks final states and di-Higgs production. He/she will also provide
operational support for the ATLAS Semiconductor Tracker to ensure it continues
to operate well in conditions far harsher than it was designed for.
The position is full-time. The successful candidate will hold a Doctorate in
particle physics. The post will be based in Geneva, Switzerland, or Oxford,
according to the candidate's preference. When based in Oxford, teaching duties
of up to 3 hours per week during the University term may be required.
Please read the “Person Specification and Job Description” before preparing
your application. You will be required to upload a curriculum vita, a
description of your research experience and interests, and the names and
addresses of three referees as part of your online application. In addition,
you should arrange for the three letters of reference to be sent to
ppadmin@physics.ox.ac.uk by the closing date. Applications are acknowledged
but not reference letters.
Professor Daniela Bortoletto (daniela.bortoletto@physics.ox.ac.uk) may receive
informal enquiries about this post. However, only applications received
promptly by 12.00 noon on **10 September 2024** will be considered.
