Postdoctoral Research Associate in Topological Data Analysis (up to 2 posts)

We invite applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work with
Professors Ulrike Tillmann, Vidit Nanda and Heather Harrington on an exciting
project in applied topology for data science with links to algebra and
biology. This is a full-time position, fixed-term for 24 months, and is
supported by a Centre-to-Centre research grant from the EPSRC.
The successful candidate will be a member of the Centre for Topological Data
Analysis with responsibility for carrying out research in
applied/computational topology or algebra for biological systems and assist in
organising activities relevant to this group. They will write up their results
for publication, present papers at conferences and contribute ideas for new
research projects, whilst also managing their own academic research and
administrative activities. They will also be involved in student projects
and/or outreach activities.
You will have, or be close to completing, a PhD in applied/computational
topology, applied/computational algebraic geometry, data science/networks or a
related discipline, and possess sufficient specialist knowledge in applied
topology and/or algebra, random topology, algebraic statistics, machine
learning, and/or computational biology to be able to work within established
research programmes. You will have excellent communication skills, including
the ability to write for publication, present research proposals and results,
and represent the research group at meetings, alongside the ability to manage
your own academic research and associated activities.
