Postdoctoral Researcher in Diffusion MRI Methods

Applications for this vacancy closed on 11 December 2024 at 12:00PM
The post will be based within the Oxford Centre for Functional MRI of the
Brain (FMRIB), reporting to Professor Karla Miller. Our group develops,
validates and applies novel MRI techniques for basic and clinical
neuroscience.

This project involves development and integration of advanced acquisition and
reconstruction techniques for diffusion MRI. We will develop novel acquisition
and reconstruction methods, design cutting-edge imaging protocols, and conduct
experiments to demonstrate these techniques. Specifically, we aim to develop
sub-millimetre diffusion MRI methods that are suitable for imaging the laminar
structure of brain gray matter. We aim for these techniques to be deployable
using vendor agnostic sequence platforms at both 3- and 7-tesla.

The post holder will be expected to take an independent and proactive role in
managing the research process, maintaining and setting up collaborations, and
generating new research and grant opportunities.

Some of your responsibilities will include raising research funds through
grant applications and manage own area of a larger research budget, sharing
responsibility for shaping the research group’s plans and the writing of group
funding applications for new research projects and representing the research
group at external meetings/seminars and carry out collaborative projects with
colleagues in partner institutions.

It is essential that you hold a doctoral degree (PhD or DPhil) in physics,
engineering or other relevant discipline.
